Founded in 1973, PermeGear is recognized as a leader in the diffusion cell industry and continues to make hundreds of varieties of Franz cells, Side-Bi-Side cells, and In-Line cells. Custom diffusion cells are a specialty. PermeGear vertical glass diffusion cells are the original Franz Cells. They are the de facto standard for working with human skin or with any membrane 4 mm or less in thickness.

Basics for ordering Franz cells
1 Experiments are generally run at an elevated temperature. You can use your Franz Cells in an incubated environment, or you can purchase jacketed cells and connect them to a source of warming water.
2 What orifice diameter is best? 9 mm is recommended for human skin and 5 mm for mucosa. 15mm is the most common size for polymeric membranes.
3 What receptor chamber volume will work? The receptor volumes of standard cells will provide good data for a majority of experiments. However, there are exceptions, and PermeGear can often provide receptor chamber volumes that will generate better data for those occasions when the standard cells arent ideal.
